Student Services (ORPCE)

Meredith B. Hughes, MEd, Director

Debra Hamilton, Housing Coordinator/ORPCE Assistant

Offices of Regional Primary Care Education (ORPCEs) have been established at each of the state's nine Area Health Education Centers (AHECs). The concept of ORPCE was developed to help address the state's growing need to increase training opportunities in primary care for health professions students and to help create more primary care providers, especially in rural and underserved areas throughout the state

The purpose of Student Services (ORPCE) is to facilitate and enhance primary care education. Community medical practices, hospitals and community health centers in the SEAHEC region currently precept medical, nurse practitioner, pharmacy, and physician assistant students. Many of these students will be seeking employment opportunities locally upon graduation.

The Student Services staff at SEAHEC serves as a liaison between the community practices, the students, and the health science schools.
