REGIONAL PERINATAL OUTREACH COORDINATOR

The Obstetrics and Gynecology department at South East Area Health Education Center is seeking a full-time Regional Perinatal Outreach Coordinator.  The coordinator is responsible for working within the perinatal care region to ensure local health departments, community hospitals, nurses, and physicians (obstetrical and pediatric) are trained appropriately to provide the necessary care to women, infants, and children.  A minimum of two year’s clinical experience in obstetrical or pediatric care required, with a BSN and current NC RN license. Experience in planning and providing adult education programs preferred.  

 Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with the NC DHHS Division of Public Health Women’s Health Branch and the Perinatal Outreach Coordinators representing other regions in the state, to develop and/or update the statewide educational plan, which addresses priority concerns of mothers, newborns and their families and seeks to reduce infant mortality.  
  • Participate with other Perinatal Outreach Coordinators in planning and implementing statewide and regional conferences and other initiatives.
  • Identify educational needs of perinatal care providers (nurses, social workers, nutritionists, maternal outreach workers, etc) in the region; develop, implement and evaluate a broad range of educational activities designed to meet these needs.
  • Function as an instructor, trainer, preceptor, evaluator, and consultant. 
  • Work cooperatively with community groups and agencies concerned with the needs of childbearing families in the counties as specified above.
  • Function as a liaison between the tertiary center and the outreach community hospitals, public health agencies, and other providers.

CLINIC BILLING COORDINATOR

Full-time position available in physicians' centralized billing office utilizing computerized billing system, CPT and ICD-9-CM coding. Duties include registration of demographic information, insurance verification, billing information, and charge positing. High school graduate with excellent data entry skills, experience in 3rd party insurance processing, and computer and typing skills. Prefer ART/CCS-P with experience. CURRICULUM EDUCATOR

Curriculum Education and Development: South East Area Health Education Center (formerly Coastal AHEC) is seeking an experienced medical educator for its newly restructured, Competency Education and Practice Research section. The ideal candidate should possess a master’s degree in Education, Nursing or Public Health with at least 5 years of experience.  The position is responsible for competency based curriculum development, consisting of coordination, evaluation and implementation for the affiliated teaching Residency programs in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Surgery in New Hanover Regional Medical Center and work closely with the Programs Directors and Department Heads of those Sections. Other duties will include development and oversight of Quality Improvement initiatives and programs. Responsibilities include section leadership, specifically regarding personnel, financial and budgetary decisions. Experience with computerized data bases, particularly education and evaluation software, is preferred. Skills and knowledge of educational writing, basic research principles and presenting/publishing are also of value. Salary is dependent on training and experience. Job requirements include video conferencing support, multimedia equipment & presentation support, and event (projection/sound) support. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience with IP and ISDN video conferencing, MS Office (Power Point), and general computer / multimedia knowledge. Responsible for general administrative/secretarial duties to include preparing general correspondence, coordinating travel arrangements, data entry, schedule meetings, etc. At least two years administrative/secretarial experience in a medical practice environment required. Excellent secretarial, interpersonal and organizational skills necessary. Must be detail-oriented and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. RESIDENT COORDINATOR

The Department of surgery at SEAHEC is seeking a Resident Coordinator for its training program in General Surgery. The successful applicant will provide a high level of administrative assistance to develop procedure and maintain documents/records to assure accreditation of the Residency with national agencies by meeting stringent standards and requirements. At least five years experience in an administrative role is required and wide-ranging experience within a medical/hospital setting is strongly recommended, as well as proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook. Transcription experience a plus. Candidate must function will in a fast-paced environment.
